Poetry Out Loud

Lancaster Catholic has been participating in the Poetry Out Loud contest for six years. This year, 32 students competed  for the chance to move onto the regional competition held at the Ware Center in downtown Lancaster.

Poetry Out Loud encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.

Tying for third place was Felicia Monila and Peter Witkowski, both seniors, who performed "The Faithful" and "The New Colossus" respectfully. Coming in second place was Gloria Cao, junior, who performed "Time Does Not Bring Grief, You Have All Lied." The first place winner who is moving on to the regional competition is Bronte Spidaliere, junior, with the poem of "One Hundred Love Sonnets: XVII."
