Library Philosophy
1. The school library implements classroom activity and is an integral part of the curriculum. The library exists primarily for educational purposes. It offers enrichment for the students and resource materials, both print and electronic.
2. The library provides additional materials for the pleasure and recreation of the student over and above needed subject materials.
3. The library hopes to make reading a pleasurable, lifelong activity.
Library Policy
Students are encouraged to come to the Library before and after school and during study periods. Study hall passes must be obtained in the Library. The Library opens at 7:25 AM and is open after school until 3:30 . The after school schedule may vary, a weekly schedule is posted outside the library. Please read your handbook for additional library regulations.
Library Skills
All new students are required to complete an independent library skills unit. The unit is to be completed during the student’s scheduled study halls or before and after school. Freshmen and all new upperclassmen with study halls scheduled for the first semester will be responsible for completing the packet by Friday, November 7. A semester grade and ¼ credit is given for this graduation requirement. Students will be asked to report to the library the week of Sept. 2 to receive their packets. Students with study halls in the second semester will receive their packets the first week of the second semester with the deadline for completion in early March.
