The Crusader Period is a 40-minute period built into the school day to support all learners, enrich our academic offerings, and allow students to explore interests to promote positive school culture and climate. The Crusader Period alternates with the students' lunch and will allow time set aside every day for all students to receive instructional support in any subject, have club meetings or pursue activities/interests that would normally only be available after the school day ended.
Please Note: All freshmen will be scheduled for two required Crusader periods: Crusadership and Library/Technology skills. These two Crusader periods will be scheduled by homerooms. All teachers will inform students if their course requires a scheduled Crusader period. Most AP and Foundation courses will have required Crusader Periods.
Crusadership is a crash course for all freshmen on what it means to be a Crusader! Students will get to know their peers, hear from upperclassmen about school events and learn how to be successful in high school. They also will be provided with tried and true tips for studying, note-taking, and much more. Leadership is a key component of being a Crusader and this is the perfect space for the freshman to start making their mark on Lancaster Catholic!
The library skills will focus on the skills you need to do your assigned projects and assignments for all your classes. Sessions will introduce the library's OPAC, e-books and databases. Works Cited format and website evaluation skills will also be covered. The technology skills will focus on Google Drive, Canvas and general technology needs. Students will also complete Digital Citizenship lessons.
