Art Bamert Jr Director of Campus Ministry

Art Bamert, Jr. is a cradle Catholic who grew up in St. Louis, MO. He attended Catholic middle school and high school and then headed west to the Rockies to seek his fortune. He ended up learning how to ski, rediscovering his faith and meeting his lovely wife. Art has been married for over 32 years to his wife Donna, a Pediatric Oncology nurse. They have two adult children and reside in the beautiful bucolic Borough of Elizabethtown, PA.

Art has worked with young people since 1990 in various capacities as a volunteer and paid Catholic youth minister. In 1990 Art began an almost ten-year stint as a weekly volunteer with the Child Life Department at the Pediatric Hospital at Hershey Medical Center, spending time working with and supporting young people and their families as they coped with disease and illness. That effort led to his involvement with Camp Can-Do (founded in the early 1980s) one of the very first summer camps for children with cancer, serving as a counselor then directing Arts and Crafts for one of the two weeks of camp.

In 1997 he was invited by his new Pastor to establish a youth program as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry at Seven Sorrows BVM Parish in Middletown, PA.  In 2006 he moved to campus ministry and began his service at Lancaster Catholic High school as the Associate Director of Campus Ministry and then in the spring of 2018 was appointed the Director of Campus Ministry, a position that he still holds.

Art has authored numerous articles, ministry materials, and prayers for Catholic youth.  Art speaks to youth and adults on a variety of topics as well as planning and running retreats. His favorite being the Lord of the Rings Retreat that he conceived and developed with the help of fellow faith-filled Lord of the Rings co-workers fans.

Art also has contributed to live events with audio engineering as well as lighting and stage design.  He is a budding filmmaker and over the last ten years has helped produce many films to help promote LCHS Campus Ministry and help tell the story of Lancaster Catholic High School. In 2019 he founded Pierced Heart Productions his very own film company dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary and hopes to work on projects to help tell the stories of our beautiful Catholic faith.

He is a student of Catholic apologetics and loves to talk about anything that has to do with Christ or His Church.
