Catholic Education Foundation

Gerald Ganse, founder of the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) and Lancaster Catholic High School Board of Directors Chair '67, formed the CEF in Lancaster County to help solve “the number one obstacle to Catholic education: funding.”

CEF is an independent nonprofit corporation committed primarily to providing tuition assistance to students interested in attending or currently attending Lancaster Deanery parish elementary schools and or Lancaster Catholic High School.

The Foundation was incorporated in 2015 and operates under the mission of raising and managing sufficient funds to support Catholic education which will allow Catholic schools to be accessible to all families of the Lancaster Deanery. The CEF has committed to step forward to take the lead in advancing the mission of our Catholic Schools.

The Catholic Education Foundation offers another alternative way to receive funding that is not in competition with the Diocese of Harrisburg funding. The foundation is publicly funded and is willing to work with donors to fulfill their desire to aid in continuing education for students in the Catholic private school system. All forms of donations are accepted.

This year, Lancaster Catholic students Maria Russoniello, Robert Reisinger and Zachary Luthy were honored by being awarded $1,000 in tuition assistance grants through the Gerald and Suzanne Ganse endowed Tuition Assistance Fund. All three students expressed their gratitude and how much it meant to them and their families by writing thank you letters to Mr. Ganse.

Resurrection Catholic Elementary School on East Orange Street in Lancaster was also awarded three smaller grants to help students continue their Catholic education, with the help from LCHS alum Dr. Albert Schreder class of 1945.
