Class of 2019 Alumni Spotlight

Lancaster Catholic High School is truly fortunate to have dedicated members of the Class of 2019 who are actively giving back to their alma mater. Just five short years after they walked the halls as students, these passionate alumni are now stepping into roles as coaches and volunteers. Their commitment not only enriches our school community but also inspires current students to engage in the same spirit of service and leadership. It’s heartwarming to see how these young leaders are shaping the next generation, fostering a sense of camaraderie, and instilling the values they learned during their time at Catholic High.

Johnny Besecker ‘19 is entering his second year as a basketball coach at Lancaster Catholic High School. After graduating, he attended Saint Joseph's University and is currently running a sports league while working at Soccer Post. One of his fondest memories from his time at Lancaster Catholic is meeting his girlfriend in geometry class. Motivated by the positive experiences he had as a student-athlete, Johnny aims to ensure that today's young athletes enjoy high school sports just as much as he did. His commitment to fostering a supportive and enjoyable environment for his players reflects his dedication to their growth and success.

Erin Fulmer ‘19 is in her second year coaching the dance team at Lancaster Catholic High School, a role that allows her to share her passion for dance and foster the growth of young dancers. After graduating from Lancaster Catholic, she attended Millersville University and currently works at H&L Team Sales while also teaching dance at Lititz Academy of Dance. One of her favorite memories as a student was attending the Kairos retreat during her junior year, an experience that deepened her connections with classmates. Inspired by the strong support system and the impact her own coach had on her life, Erin is committed to providing that same level of encouragement and mentorship to her dancers. She looks forward to helping them develop their skills and build lasting friendships within the team.

Phoenix Hozza ‘19 has been coaching baseball at Lancaster Catholic High School since 2019 and will continue through 2024. After graduating, he utilized the skills he developed in coaching and at Millersville University to pursue a career in sales and logistics. One of his favorite memories from his time as a student was playing baseball and participating in Coach Andy's gym class. Passionate about giving back to the community that shaped him, Phoenix aims to be a role model and mentor for young athletes while helping to uphold the winning tradition of the program. 

Peyton Jaquis ‘19 is entering her second year of coaching girls' basketball, with this being her first year at Lancaster Catholic High School. After graduating from Lancaster Catholic, she pursued finance and accounting at Duquesne University and is now building her career in accounting. One of her favorite memories as a student was winning the 2018 PIAA 4A Girls Basketball State Championship, a highlight that has inspired her to give back to the program. Peyton recognizes the profound impact her high school coaches had on her development, and she hopes to influence future generations of young athletes in the same positive way.

Megan Kramp ‘19 is in her first year coaching field hockey at Lancaster Catholic High School, bringing a total of three years of coaching experience to the role. After graduating from Lancaster Catholic, she attended Penn State Harrisburg and now works as a Category Analyst at Clark Associates. One of her favorite memories as a student was forming lasting friendships through extracurricular activities like field hockey, mini-THON, and serving as a student ambassador. Eager to give back to the sport that enriched her high school experience, Megan is excited to help current players build similar bonds and create memorable moments on and off the field. She feels honored to represent her alma mater as a coach and hopes to inspire her athletes to look forward to each season while fostering a love for the sport.

Malkam Lawrence ’19 is excited to begin his first year coaching football at Lancaster Catholic High School. After graduating, he attended Delaware Valley University and King’s College, and he is currently building a career in social work. One of his fondest memories from his time as a student was winning gold in the 4x100 relay at the Districts, an achievement that fueled his passion for sports. By coaching, Malkam aims to share his experiences and insights with the next generation of athletes, hoping to inspire and guide them as they navigate their own journeys.

KJ Myers ‘19 is in his second year of coaching cross country at Lancaster Catholic High School, where he cherishes the family atmosphere that defines the community. After graduating, he attended Saint Joseph's University and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Villanova University while working full-time as the Director of Marketing and Operations at his family’s business, Kegel’s Produce. KJ values the lessons he learned during his time at Lancaster Catholic, particularly the importance of relationships, which were highlighted during his memorable graduation ceremony and the epic after-party that followed. Coaching alongside his former coach, Coach Simpson, has been a fulfilling experience for KJ, as he strives to motivate and inspire student-athletes to push themselves and give their best every day. With a deep appreciation for the strong foundation his family built and a passion for the produce industry, KJ is dedicated to both his professional and coaching journeys.

Chris Richards ‘19 is a dedicated coach for boys' soccer at Lancaster Catholic High School. After graduating from Lancaster Catholic, he attended Muhlenberg College and now works in employee benefits insurance consulting. Chris fondly remembers the vibrant sporting events that united students in support of their peers, creating lasting memories. Inspired by his own coaches, he aims to provide current athletes with the same support and encouragement that helped him succeed. Coaching has allowed him to stay connected to the sport he loves while contributing to the community that nurtured his growth. He is excited about the future of Catholic sports and looks forward to continuing this rewarding journey.

Mary Elizabeth Wagner’19 is entering her second year as the swimming coach at Lancaster Catholic High School, where she is eager for the upcoming season. In her professional life, she serves as the Development Coordinator at Community Action Partnership (CAP), where she focuses on donor communication, event planning, and managing social media. After graduating from Lancaster Catholic, she attended Temple University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. One of her fondest memories as a student was cheering at home football games, which fostered her love for the school community. Inspired by the significant impact her coaches had on her during high school, Mary Elizabeth is committed to making a similar difference in the lives of her athletes, staying connected to the Crusader community, and giving back in a meaningful way.
