Winter Student Volunteer Program

This program is ideal for students who have a genuine interest in a healthcare career. It allows students to experience firsthand the day-to-day activities in a professional healthcare setting while fulfilling their service learning, community service, or internship hours in order to graduate.

Students will be given the opportunity to work side by side with an LGH clinical staff member who will mentor them throughout the program (we do not guarantee that the student will be placed with a doctor or nurse).  Upon completion of the program (50 hours) the student is eligible for a $500 scholarship to the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences for a major clinical program.

The requirements have changed for the program.  To participate in the winter 2018 program your high school graduation date must be 2019.

Applications will be accepted from October 2 through October 16, 2017 .  The application package must be received  (not postmarked) in the Volunteer Office by October 16, 2017.  The number of students accepted into the program will depend upon the number of healthcare workers and mentors available.  Students will be notified if they are accepted in the program by mid-December.

If you have questions, please contact Beth at (717) 544-4845. If a student would like to apply for the student program, they should log onto www.LancasterGeneralHealth.org to obtain instructions and download the current Winter application from the student volunteer page.
