One day last year, during my Chemistry class, many crucibles broke during a Magnesium oxide experiment. Multiple trials were inhibited due to a lack of available crucible on hand.
In the same month, I participated in the Regional Science fair and received multiple awards with monetary prizes. The following month, my Brainbuster team made it to semifinals and was awarded $1000.00. With the “broken crucible” in my mind, I reached out to my school last summer to help make a lasting and significant impact with all my monetary winnings.
On Lancaster Catholic's One Day of Giving, The Broken Crucible Challenge raised $4,548.90 for the science department.
