Important Immunization Information

These regulations are intended to ensure that children attending school in PA are adequately protected against outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases.

On the first day of school (August 27 for freshmen and August 28 all students), all students must have had at least one dose of the required vaccinations or risk exclusion from school (unless the child has a medical, religious/philosophical, strong moral or ethical exemption). Previously, the PA Department of Health allowed parents up to eight months to complete the necessary immunizations. This provision no longer exists and all
required immunizations must be completed before the start of school.

Important – Parents of students entering 12th grade, please pay close attention to the requirements, as this is a grade in which additional vaccinations are necessary. The new regulation pertains to all school districts across the state, so Lancaster Catholic High School is recommending parents of 11th grade students make an appointment with their doctors as soon as possible to avoid appointment delays and be in compliance for the
upcoming school year. Specifically, if a student had one dose of meningitis vaccine prior to age 16 then they
need the 2nd dose to enter 12th grade. If the student received the 1st dose at age 16 or older then no further doses are required. Also, at least one dose of Tdap vaccine is required to start school or risk exclusion.

If you need assistance obtaining the required immunizations for your child, go to dontwaitvaccinate.pa.gov for information.

Sincerely,
