Mrs. Susan Ulrich

Mrs. Ulrich is the Art Teacher at Lancaster Catholic High School and teaches Introduction to Art, Art 1, 2 and 3. She is from Cleveland Oh, and graduated with her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art as a Painting major and an Illustration minor. Her favorite semester was spent at Lacoste Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Provence, France. While attending college, she worked for the education department at the Cleveland Museum of Art and discovered she loved to teach while leading Saturday classes for children.

She attained her Pennsylvania Art Teaching Certification for grades K-12, and her M Ed from the Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Her capstone thesis researched, “The Transformative Power of the Arts in Communities” and two of her favorite artists are Frida Kahlo and Banksy.

Mrs. Ulrich loves teaching because she believes creative problem solving and the studio habits learned through creating a work of art are valuable skills for all students. She also agrees with Johann Wolfgang Goeth, ”A person should hear a little music, read a little poetry and see a fine picture every day of their life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in their soul.” Making meaning through personal expression inspires identity, and interprets humanity.

Global travel, museum hopping, painting, and reading are Mrs. Ulrich’s primary free time pursuits. During her 6 years at LCHS she has been an advisor for the National Art Honor Society and Art Club. She also contributes to set design and props for LCHS Fall Plays and Spring Musicals. Mrs. Ulrich lives in Ephrata, PA with her husband, son, and labradoodle Baker Mayfield.
