hey Lancaster Catholic father Arena here this week we have confession the season of Lent we're now three weeks in and it's a wonderful opportunity for us to head towards the confessional so be able to prepare ourselves better for Easter but all the times confessions what are those things that people really are comfortable with that makes perfect sense he has a priest off the X people ask do you go to confession to another priest and yes I do I can't absolve myself doesn't work that way I have to go to confession to end so I too can feel those times were killed a little bit uncomfortable about the priest the priest has the experience I'm not just going to confession like everybody else process of hearing confessions I think sometimes the question comes up and what is the priests think of what is going to think if we don't like what if I tell him something that's really embarrassing or like really bad and I can't speak for every single priest on the planet Earth but you know I can speak for myself I'll tell you I have never had an encounter in confession where I was shocked by somebody or where I was upset or judgemental of them back at the opposite of the story of The Prodigal Son the father who lease and behind treats him terribly but then later comes back he doesn't look at his son and say We'll look who's here or you know what do you expect or you know why should I take you back in happy maybe not even that wore joyful and his sons come back because he loves it exactly how our Lord is with us our Lord is waiting for us it's like the father he was not out in the sun just kind of came by says that the father was already out there as if he were waiting every single day looking for his son to return price looks for us to return he waits for us we don't have to come to him and bag he's already trying to meet us halfway that's what confession is we have confession set up like this prices meeting us halfway he's looking to us and calling us to come back and even if his priest is priest who makes him present will you encounter in confession the same attitude not looking to condemn but joyful that you're there not please Dora shamed of your sins but proud of you for coming back home I'll save honestly the most beautiful confessions I ever hear that are uplifting to me not the ones that are just the simple like you know I stubbed my toe and I said a bad word or I stole $0.05 it's like all well this is a good confession because it's not too bad no the ones I think I find the most joy in are the ones where I see The Prodigal Son the person who his father it's been 40 years and I'm so excited by that because they're coming home the worst their sins are the more joyful I am because that's how much that's how much cleaner and healthier they're about to become because all that's going to be washed away in a real way the worst somebody's not only are they need most more need of Mercy but the more beautiful it is when they're healed clean last me doesn't our Lord even say the angels in heaven Rejoice more over the conversion of one sinner than bover you know what the 99 others who don't needs to be converted the joy our Lord has a forgiving the same Joy the priest had so forgiving whatever burdens you have whatever things weigh you down your heart your mind and your soul lay them at the feet of Jesus bring them to confession walk away healthy holy happy let them go by yourself to be free experience the joy of being loved allow yourself to experience the fullness of God's peace for your heart that's really what length is coming down to what is the bat so invite you all to come to confession this week and I invite you to really take time and prepared enter into it to live in New Life that's what we all want is a second chance for this is the season of Second Chances sometimes we need three or four Second Chances but that's okay Jesus will never stop giving those to us this is Father Arena looking forward to being able to pray with you and for you during the season of Lent hope you have a wonderful day hope we see you in confession God bless
