Fr Arena discusses Angels and how they help us on our journey through life.

good morning Lancaster Catholic father Arena here we celebrated the Feast of the archangels Michael Gabriel and Rayfield this feast day is one that's really unique because usually when we celebrate saint there people who lived on earth human beings but this one's different angels and it's good for us just got to take a moment and say well what does the church teach on angels that also what does she not teach about angels common misconception when I was growing up I remember watching some of the old old cartoons the character you do got like bumps on the head with a mallet or something that's supposed to be like they died they would then grow wings and then have a Halo and float up to heaven like they're an angel thing that you see in different cartoons are different imagery but it's unfortunate do some kind of seafood everybody's mindset thinking that when we die we become Angels but we don't cuz the angels are actually entirely different species from us you know they can think like we do they have the power of willing like we do but their Spirit they're pure Spirit we are Body and Soul work part Spirit part matter they are just Spirit their distinct from God their distinct from us when we die we don't turn into a different species just like sometimes jokingly say when we die and when I die I don't become a shark or a giraffe when we die we don't become angels we are still humans but what do angels do what's the point of the Angels as we read a scripture in the very beginning God before he created Humanity he created the angels and they weren't just like a side project of his they were supposed to do something and you are all about doing even there now Angels means messenger of God it denotes not so much who they are as an individual but what they do they convey God's message they reveal God and they helped bring people to God and God's to people even the names of the three saints that we have four today Saint Michael Saint Raphael's in San Gabriel those aren't just names they denote something Michael's name means who is is God it's kind of a question like when the devil stands up to defy God Michael ask the questions basically who thinks they're as good as God that they could stand toe-to-toe with him in to fight him so he's one who ministers in a sense of Defending God's glory Rayfield whose name talks is about meaning roughly God's healing because  you in the Book of Tobit is the one who heals to buy a defense impermeable but then also we have Gabriel who is God's voice the one who announces God's Tidings for example when he comes to Mary to tell her about how she will become the mother of the Savior so is angels we actually don't know about them individually we only know what they do and even though even if all of them we know that you only something general of the three that we know Michael Gabriel like I said their name to notes what they do or what why why do we have such a thing where these angels a Bast uncountable multitude St John will tell us in the Book of Revelation why don't we know them personally are they not individuals and thing is yes they are there Angelic persons but only God knows that we only know them to our interaction with them interaction with us because you see in the beginning God wanted them to serve him by serving us just like if you want to get if you love somebody and you want to do they want you to do you know you want to help tonight you want to serve them you want to support them and they said where you can really help me right now is if you help that person over there will the Angels the good ones who did not fall with the devil and the other ones well that's exactly what they're doing there's loving God by loving us they're serving God by serving us they don't need to be known they don't care about having their name trumpet it out loud they don't care about drawing attention to themselves they're all about service even if they're not known because for them it's not about what they get all about what they give in about giving God glory that's the whole thing now all of us all so besides the archangels leave me do we have a different choirs of Angels the seraphim the cherubim dominations Thrones Powers Angels archangels but we all have our own individual guardian angels to and that these days coming up in the next month as well think you have a companion at your side sent to you and Emissary from the court of Heaven itself to lead you into guide you not just to defend you from evil but to be your companion to help you grow closer to Jesus Bellevue bro dude to know him better to love him better than to serve him better ask for their help ask your guardian angel to pray for you to defend you you know there's even a simple prayer you know God my guardian dear it's an end it's so short and simple and it Rhymes so it's easy to remember what we should be praying that you should be asking the Angels because not only other Temptations of this world but is real so earlier there are batting jal's those who don't want to serve God those who want to fight against God by fighting against us just as the good one serve God by serving as they fight against God by fighting against us and so we need help on this battlefield this spiritual Battlefield and that the beings are there for they helped us to become great they helped us to become Saints and so even though we can get so easily caught up in Mena AR phone sent in the people around us and so easily distracted by the things that we can see don't forget there's so much we don't see just because we don't see it doesn't mean it's not real and it's not with us your angels with you right now the angels in heaven are looking down on us and praying for us right now so ask them for your help for help and ask them to guide you as continue your Journey of Faith remember that you're always in my prayers and ask you to pray for me but for right now is Father Arena signing off have a
